GETTING MARRIED AT FINNEBROGUE WOODS
Exchanging your vows in ancient woodlands, surrounded by your favourite people. Partying well into the evening in a lakeside tipi. Pretty special, right? Finnebrogue Woods is one of my favourite wedding venues in Northern Ireland! So I’m delighted to welcome Gillian to the blog, who is going to tell us all about getting married at Finnebrogue Woods!
Welcome, Gillian! Tell us a bit about Finnebrogue Woods
How wild is your love? Finnebrogue Woods is a beautiful secluded tipi venue surrounded by ancient woodland next to an enchanting lake in the heart of rural County Down only 40 minutes from Belfast.
What makes your venue unique?
Our beautiful tipis nestled within ancient woodland next to the lake create that wow factor. We offer our couples the use of a bridal tipi and a photo safari, using an off-road vehicle to explore the Woods with their photographer to capture romantic photos.
We are pet friendly in Finnebrogue Woods and have been delighted to host weddings where the couples pets have attended and in some cases played a significant role in the day.
What sort of weddings do you cater for at Finnebrogue Woods?
We welcome everyone and cater for the small intimate to the larger weddings but our focus is always on creating the best celebration for each couple.
What are the various options for the use of your venue?
We provide the beautiful venue and encourage each couple to put their own stamp on it. The main options for couples include they like to have the ceremony on site or not, furniture choices (we offer a range including long rustic tables & benches and round tables & chairs) Couples can hire their choice of caterers (food trucks included), dress the venue or leave au natural, have big bands or acoustic sets by families and friends. Enjoy canapes on the lawn or enjoy the lawn games provided.
Getting married at Finnebrogue Woods- Do you hold a licence for civil ceremonies?
We do hold a license for civil ceremonies and our outdoor ceremony site is so romantic, it is set within a glade surrounded by ancient trees overlooking the lake. The local church on the edge of the estate is also available if couples would prefer a church wedding.
What happens if it’s raining on the wedding day?
We are very sheltered in the Woods, the trees providing a great natural canopy. We liaise with each couple discussing the various options which include erecting a canvas over the ceremony site, moving the ceremony to within the tipis and we provide umbrellas for our weddings should they be needed.
Do you offer accommodation on site?
We are hoping to in the near future …..watch this space! In the meantime we have a great variety of quality accommodation providers in the local area. We provide all our couples with a recommended supplier list which includes accommodation.
When can the couple access the venue to begin setting up for the wedding?
We encourage couples to come on site the day before the wedding and again on the day after, a picnic on the lawn the day after is always a nice way to end the festivities.
What one piece of advice would you give a couple planning their wedding?
It’s your day go with what you want and take time to enjoy it together.
Gillian, thank you so much for taking the time to tell us all about getting married at Finnebrogue Woods!
