Northern Ireland elopement – Lindsay and Dave
Northern Ireland elopement- Lindsay and Dave
They say the journey is as important as the destination. Delayed flights, missing baggage and the unpredictable Irish weather didn’t stop Lindsay and Dave. As they exchanged vows at Kinbane Castle, overlooking the Sea of Moyle, we all felt the magic of this place. Here’s the story of their Northern Ireland elopement.
Kinbane Castle elopement
On a clear day, you can see The Mull of Kintyre, which is only 12 miles away. In Irish legend, it is said that the Children of Lir spent 300 years here, after being cursed by their wicked stepmother. Thankfully, Lindsay and Dave’s Northern Ireland elopement wasn’t as dramatic as this!
They had travelled over from Florida with 7 guests. Elopements can be more relaxed and intimate than a wedding. Smaller guest lists mean it’s just you and your closest people sharing in this special time.
Despite a delayed flight meaning they only had a few hours of sleep, they started their celebrations off in style with a few pints.
Firstly, we travelled to the Dark Hedges. Game of Throne fans may recognise it as the King’s Road from Season 2, episode 1. Thankfully, there weren’t too many tourists trying to photobomb us! There was a gorgeous field nearby with long grasses that I couldn’t resist.

Then it was onwards to Kinbane Castle. Kinbane is definitely one of my favourite locations along the Causeway Coast. Kinbane means White Head and refers to the limestone headland on which the remains of the castle sit. The castle was build in 1547, so it’s incredible that anything remains. To access it, you descend steep steps, which believe me when I say are easier on the way down than climbing back up!
Lindsay and Dave’s exchanging of vows was so personal and moving. There were a few misty eyes, myself included! The celebrant Shevaun Rafferty did such a beautiful job with the ceremony. After, we explored the area and got some gorgeous couple shots.
Northern Ireland Elopement Testimonial
“Such an amazing experience! I can’t say enough about the effort and dedication Emma put into making our wedding day so special and memorable. Emma went above and beyond making the day exactly what we envisioned. She literally climbed a mountain for us. I would recommended her a thousand times, not only was she completely thorough, but it was like having a best friend along to keep everyone having fun but focused at the same time. Thank you again Emma! Job well done!” Lindsay and David
Awh, this is so amazing! I will literally climb a mountain (or a pile of steps) for you to make your wedding special.
